This episode of the Ethics Edit Podcast was an assignment for my ethics in journalism at NYU. The episode was produced and written by Natalia Borecki and myself, and I edited the audio file.
Harvard law professor, Charles Ogletree, posed the question whether they were journalists first to Mike Wallace and Peter Jennings on Ethics in America; a series that aired in 1987. In this hypothetical scenario, they were covering a war in which American troops were involved. Were they obligated to warn American troops that they were going to be ambushed by foreign forces or should they just cover and report on what transpires as journalists. We discuss what should we do as journalists.
