How was the pandemic handled where you live? Science Writers tell us.

As the SARS-CoV-2 spread around the world in 2020 and became a pandemic, various countries around the world handled it differently. Some went into a total lockdown, while others went about life as if nothing was happening. So much of what was happening was new. This was a new virus we had never seen before: how it affected us and how it should be treated was unknown to doctors and scientists. What we did know is that getting information out to people as soon as we learned something new was important. I asked two science communicators – Robyn Ramsden from New Zealand and Adam Phillips from Japan – about their perspectives on how the countries where they live handled the start of the pandemic.
