This episode of the Brown Space was created a group project for a Podcasting in Journalism class at NYU. The episode was produced and written by my classmates (Richard DiCicco, Tsai-Ann Hill, Alyssa Khan, and Dwight Torres), and myself.

This episode was somewhat personal to me. As an immigrant to the US, race and ethnicity was not at the forefront of my mind in the way it was growing up in Trinidad. Sure, I was aware of the various ethnic groups in Trinidad and their places in taking part in and making Trinidad and Tobago’s culture beautiful and unique but those views changed once I moved to the US.

It is something I still struggle with and my relationship with being an American and an immigrant will always be a complex one in my mind. I expect it will be something that will continue to evolve as well, so the views expressed in this episode might change but it is a snapshot of my thoughts and feelings at the time.
